Mr. Neil O. Reichard, 86 husband of Judith Hackman Reichard died Friday, January 20, 2023 at Wesley Commons in Greenwood, SC.
Neil was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on June 19, 1936 to the late Clarence A. and Bernetta Parry Reichard where he grew up and graduated from Allentown High School where he participated in track and football. Afterwards, he graduated from Blair Academy where he was a member of the track team and the undefeated New Jersey State Prep champion football team. He furthered his education by receiving a degree from Lehigh University after which he was employed by his family’s business, Robert A. Reichard Inc. as a plant manager. As the industry changed, the business was acquired by Lebanon Seaboard Corporation and he soon became the operations manager for their agricultural division.
His servant’s heart and civic minded spirit kept him involved in many organizations in which he served in many capacities including the Pennsylvania National Guard, past member of the Board of Governors of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce, past board member of the National Fertilizer Solutions Association, Allentown Jaycees and past president of The Exchange Club of Western Lehigh. As a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for 65 years, Neil served as Sunday School teacher for 27 years and church council for many years. Since moving to Savannah Lakes Village in 2005, Neil and Judy both have been members of The Lutheran Church By The Lake in McCormick.
His interests included golfing and traveling with Judy on river cruises in Europe. Also, his fascination with cars and history of automobile development compelled him to become active in The McCormick Car Club. Spending time golfing with his sons and grandchildren and attending their various sports activities always made him very proud of whatever they were involved in.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith Hackman Reichard; sons, Todd D. Reichard and wife Pam of Greenville, SC, Scott O. Reichard and wife Whitney of Knoxville, TN and Kevin N. Reichard and wife Jen of Leesburg, VA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Reichard, sister-in-law Lori Lukow and her husband Eugene and a niece and three nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Clarence A. “Skip” Reichard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2pm at The Lutheran Church By The Lake in McCormick with Pastor Wayne Young officiating.
Memorials may be made to The Lutheran Church By The Lake, 100 Twelve Oaks Drive, McCormick, SC 29835.
